Outside the formal walled garden the wilderness starts at the back door and our Red deer herd run wild on the hills above the Lodge. Golden Eagles soar across from their eyries in the remoter glens of the estate and an abundance of wildlife lives close by in heather moors, deep lochs and steep wooded gullies of the area.
Relaxing in comfort after a day in the fresh air is one of the great pleasures of a Highland Lodge stay. Dalness has underfloor heating throughout, log fires on the ground floor, and a well appointed drying room. A comfortable snug awaits those returning from the hill or sea, and leather armchairs are tucked away in nooks for those moments of leisure. Plan your day ahead in the traditional rod room, and enjoy croquet on the lawn, afternoon tea in the garden, candle-lit dinners in the grand dining room and a picnic on the riverbank while here at Dalness.
Dalness can offer many on-estate activities and is perfectly located for access to the wider Glencoe and Fort William area.
We offer sea-fishing on Loch Etive and salmon fishing on the River Etive running through the estate, with traditional deer stalking in season and clay pigeon shooting in the grounds.
Take to the hills from the doorstep on one of many local walks, bag a Munro or go mountaineering or climbing with local guides. Guests enjoy the use of the river Etive’s ‘House Pool’ for wild swimming, and experience an exhilarating speed boat trip down Loch Etive to further shores and scenery.
The entire house will belong to you and your guests during your time with us, so you are able to fully relax in the comfort that the house has to offer.
The Lodge is fully catered, and our chef will tailor menus to suit you and your guests’ requirements. With local seafood suppliers and wild venison, Highland beef and eggs from the Estate you can be assured of good quality with a Scottish theme.
With lunch on the hill or at home, home baking for afternoon teas, and your own choice of drinks in the snug bar you will be well looked after by our dedicated house team.
Whether at a formal dinner around the grand table, or a relaxed breakfast with your family, you will be able to enjoy the glorious and breathtaking views of Glen Etive.
Dalness Lodge is situated in a dramatic setting on the 13,000 acre Dalness Estate in Glen Etive, and is set amongst some of the most spectacular scenery in the Scottish Highlands.
